As some of you may already know, the Video Doorbell is a component of a Smart Home system that allows its users to communicate with visitors at the door virtually through your smart phone. This comes in super handy when you’re not home and want to steer away any potential perpetrators by giving the illusion that you’re indeed home but unable to come to your door at the moment. However, Video Doorbell is more than just a cool gadget to add on to your SmartHome system, in fact as we will illustrate further, it may as well be your new lifeline.
How, you ask? Well, let us narrate an interesting real life scenario to help you understand exactly that.
Video Doorbell Your New Lifeline
One of our customers recently shared an interesting story with us about how the Video Door Bell in their home’s smarthome system helped them in a predicament.
One day, John’s 8 year old son had to go to a birthday party and so the rest of the family decided to have dinner out to compensate the other sibling. Now, the service at the restaurant wasn’t quite as swift as they expected it to be. At first, the waitress took longer than usual to take the order and second, once the order arrived it turned out that the food wasn’t as requested. However, John and his family, being the cooperate bunch of people as they always were, did not complain but decided to let go of the matter. Regardless, the staff was very apologetic and wanted to rectify the mishap. Thus, the manager came by their table and had a chat with the family and offered to replace their meal and provide them with desert.
While the matter was being settled down between the staff and the family, Martha, John’s wife, got a notification on her smartphone notifying that Dave, their son, used his code to enter the house and disarmed the alarm. Panicking, Martha notifies John about Dave’s arrival and gets confused as to how to deal with the situation since their 8 year old may be home alone and they haven’t even left the restaurant yet. Trying to find a possible solution to this, John advised Martha to turn the Video Doorbell on in the hope that Dave would answer it. That is exactly what happened; as soon as Martha turned on the Video Door Bell and spoke into her phone, Dave quickly replied and assured her that he was home safe and sound and is, in fact, not alone. His friend’s dad was still around as he realized that the parents weren’t home yet. Martha, then, had a nice talk with Dave’s friend’s dad and was assured that they’d wait for them to come to the house.
Thus, thanks to their Smart Home system’s Video Doorbell, John and Martha were able to handle the difficult situation and were able to communicate with their 8 year old, who didn’t have a cell phone or a home phone to be able to communicate with them.
Not Just A Door Bell
A Video Doorbell doesn’t necessarily need to be a door bell. It can be installed anywhere in the house as long as it is connected to your smart home system. For instance, you may have a baby sitter or even grandparents- who do not own a cell phone and you do not employ a home phone at your premises, so how do you communicate when you’re not home? Well, you can use your video doorbell that can be installed in the kitchen area and have a chat with them to reassure yourself whenever you need to.
