Make Space & Keep Yourself Protected – Home Security & the CoronaVirus (Covid-19)

Security is taking on a completely different meaning these days as the world collectively works to control the continuing spread of the CoronaVirus. Governments and businesses are leading the way by restricting activity, closing facilities, and limiting the occurrence of large gatherings of people. These measures should not elicit a state of panic, but rather – an understanding that these logical steps must be taken so that we are not actively contributing to the spread of the virus.
The CoronaVirus is forcing us to evaluate how we think and approach the security and safety for ourselves and others. The term Security refers to the protection of a perimeter, and the best way to protect a perimeter – whether it’s your home or yourself – is to maintain a safe distance and control who has access.
As many people switch to a work-from-home scenario, it becomes even more important to create safeguards that protect your home environment and family from exposure.

Keep Yourself Safe During CoronaVirus with SecurU Tips

Do Not Panic
Staying calm may seem like a no-brainer, but panicking causes knee jerk reactions that could make the situation worse. Do the simple things recommended by government and medical professionals to help limit your vulnerability.
Practice Hygiene
The simplest things are quite often the solution to complex problems. Viruses are spread much more rapidly when germs are allowed to continually collect and form on people and surfaces, contaminating others. Be sure to wash your hands consistently and properly, while limiting contact with others.
Limit Socializing
Minimizing the number of people you come in contact with is an easy way to protect yourself from not only acquiring, but contributing to the spread of Covid-19. At this time, there is no way to know who is a carrier of the virus – as not all people show symptoms – but can still spread the infection.
Manage Your Perimeter (Access)
Be vigilant about controlling your home and the people who have contact/access to it – and you. For the time being, you should do your best to reduce or restrict activity/access to non-residents. Even one person’s visit can expose you and your family to unnecessary risk.
Have Your Home Security Tested
Your security system is the first line of defense for your protection. With two-way voice communication, video doorbells and remote access – your security system can keep your family protected by ensuring your home environment isn’t unnecessarily exposed to carriers (people or items).
A key part of security and safety involves proactive planning; the CoronaVirus is no different. Experts, organizations, and governments have protocols in place to combat these types of situations, but they can only be 100% effective when all of us are doing our part.
