The winter months bring cold temperatures causing windows and doors to contract. Because of this, the transmitter on your door that signals to your panel when the contact is opened or closed can appear open even when it is not and cause a false alarm.

A good way to test this is to enable the chime feature on your keypad, lock your door and then push and pull on it. If your chime doesn’t sound then your transmitter is positioned correctly. If you do hear a chime it means your door transmitter needs to be adjusted to ensure proper function throughout the cold weather.
