Our team recently installed 10 Megapixel IP cameras at a car dealership to monitor critical areas around their business. One specific concern was the after-hours customer vehicle drop off area which is located at the front of the building; outside a gated area approximately 185 feet from the building.
Our goal was to achieve enough pixel density to capture license plate detail and the vehicle description at the point of entry both during regular hours and at night. With the field of view being nearly 200 feet away we needed sufficient IR to achieve a clear image at night.
The camera selected was a 10 Megapixel MegaView 2 Series IP network bullet camera from Arecont Vision with a motorized P-Iris 12-22mm telephoto Lens and IR illuminator so that the field-of-view can be properly selected in 1080P. This 10 megapixel camera has a remote focus feature that ensures the camera is fine focused with precision and the camera is rated for outdoors.
When it came to recording, a few options were discussed. To keep the costs within a working budget our customer proceeded with Video Management Software (VMS) from exacqVision that would be loaded on a new PC that they could purchase themselves versus a video server made direct from the manufacture exacqVision with a higher price-point.
VMS software is a free item that is downloaded from the server manufacture that will allow each camera loaded onto the software application to be loaded on a per license basis which is scale-able and gets assigned to the software with a license key that is associated to the MAC address of the unique video server.
Here are two images of the installation to give you an idea of the sleek look of the Arecont camera and quality of our professional SecurU installation team.
